Friday, Friday... Gotta get down on Friday...
How I wish I could enjoy my weekend. But I got some last minute stuff I need to do by next Friday. Alhamdulillah got a few things settled today. =)
I haven't posted anything I made on Foodie Friday for quite some time now. The last Foodie Friday post was about food in Semarang. Two weeks ago my friend requested I made fried ice cream cos she was curious what it taste like. I'm no expert but I do have a simple way of making Fried Ice Cream.
Firstly, you'll need a tub of ice cream. Choose any flavour you like but I reckon vanilla might be the best choice. My friend chose vanilla chocolate chip ice cream.
Btw, use good quality ice cream.
Line baking tray with waxed paper/baking paper. Prepare round scoops of ice cream and place on baking tray. Freeze ice cream balls until firm or about an hour. I think it's best to freeze overnight.
I mixed bread crumbs & cinnamon in a bowl and rolled the firm ice cream balls and place it in a freezer for about an hour.
After an hour, I beat the eggs in another bowl and rolled the ice cream balls in the egg mixture.
After I rolled the ice cream balls in the egg mixture, I rolled it again in the bowl of breadcrumbs & cinnamon until it is fully covered. I place it again on the baking tray and freeze it for a few hours.
Repeat the same steps to make a thicker crust. Roll in egg mixture then into the bowl of bread crumbs & cinnamon. Freeze again until firm and hard. I actually freezed it overnight.
Fry the ice cram balls for about 15-20 seconds, until golden. Remove from oil and place on paper towel. Serve immediately.
There are many ways to make fried cream. Some recipes use corn flakes instead of bread crumbs. I've tried both but I think its easier to use bread crumbs. I like to add cinnamon to the bread crumbs. Delicious. Some recipes even added to sugar to the crust mixture.
As for how you would like to serve it, it's up to you. You can use strawberries, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, honey, etc. It's all up to you. Enjoy!
