Silent Night, Silent Tears

God... I'm starting to feel homesick again.
I know Indonesia is not far away but somehow it feels like gazillion miles away. It's so near but yet so far.
It's hard enough looking at pictures of events you missed but it's even harder when you read messages about upcoming events you are not able to attend. More specifically, two of my closest friends' engagement and wedding. I tell myself it's not my fault I can't make it cos I'm far away but I know I'll cry silent tears when pictures of those events starts to pop-up on Facebook. Amidst the silent tears, I'm really happy for both of you laydees. Sorry I can't be there for the most imporant dates of your lives.

Curly Wurly

The last week has been kinda slow lately. Had an appointment with my patient for her crown & dowel treatment but she cancelled at the very last minute. I was already waiting at the clinic. Oh well, not my luck. Rescheduled her appointment to Tuesday. InsyaAllah all will go well. Still struggling to find a patient for full dentures. Hopefully by next week I'll find one. On a brighter note, I finally got patients for crown & bridge as well as partial denture. Syukur Alhamdullilah. Next week will be a very busy week. Monday meet my Orthodontic patient, Tuesday - crown & dowel, Wednesday - (maybe) root canal therapy.

Went to Ambarukmo Plaza with Nana on Wednesday. Window shopped and ate at Pizza Hut. Been wanting to eat pizza for weeks now. Tried the new crown crust pizza, spaghetti meatballs and ate 3 types of dessert. Yummmm! There was huge sale, we tried a few dresses but didn't buy any of it. Honestly the sale was kinda dissapointing but I bought a new pair of pants for 'work'. Nana bought a curling iron & straightener set. Woot woot! We tried the curling iron as soon as we got home! Saya pun mau dong! Hehe.

Yesterday was the first day Miss Asterix (not her real name. Huhu) started wearing tudung. I am sooo proud and happy for you. I hope to follow your footsteps soon. =)

Shaken, Not Stirred

The last couple of days has been a blast. First of all, I celebrated my 24th Birthday last Friday. I'm 24... Twenty four! Wow! Time flies by really fast. When I first flew to Yogya I wasn't even twenty yet. Here I am, five years later celebrating my 24th Birthday here. I've celebrated my birthday for the past 5 years in Yogya. Bile la nak celebrate kat Malaysia? *sniff*

Didn't really celebrate my birthday cos I was 'working' that day. But I went to watch a movie with Ijan & Parveen and we had dinner at A&W. Oh, and I bought a new dress and a necklace as a birthday present for myself (Yeah rite! That's just an excuse. Haha!). Thanks to everyone who called, texted, MSNed and Facebooked to wish me Happy Birthday. Really appreciate it! Muaxxxxx

On Saturday I played bowling with my housemates. Decided to do something different for my birthday as everyone else normally karaoke. Was a lot of fun. Manage to strike once. Woohoo! After that we had dinner at Tao Kitchen and the girls 'suprised' me with a birthday cake. Huhu. Comel comel... Thank you girls for a hell of a good time. Really appreciate it cos you were willing to spend a few hours for me eventhough you have to study for your exam. Love ya!

Sunday was a day spent on top of the hill and the beach. In the morning we went to Ullen Sentalu. Its a museum about the history of Yogya's Royal family. The place is really beautiful but unfortunately you're not allowed to take pictures there. But we did take some pictures at the places we were allowed to. Hehe. We were on our way to the beach by noon. As soon as we arrived we bought fishes, prawns and squids at the market and picked a shop and asked them to cook for us. It took them almost 2 hours! We were starving! Then we played with the kite Ijan bought and took pictures. As night falls we went to a nearby beach to eat jagung bakar. Yummmm.....

On a completely different note, I just read Dydee's blog. I know how you feel girl. The whole Manohara and Amabalat issue is getting out of hand. It's all because of the Indonesian media. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy watching their gossip once in a while, but lately Malaysia has been put in a rather bad position. It's hard enough trying to defend your own country without hurting their feelings, it's even harder when people start asking questions like "Orang Malaysia memang kejam ya?" or you get mistreated. So most of the time I just shrug it off and or just laugh. There's no point getting upset or angry rite?

PS: More pictures will be uploaded on facebook soon

What Is There To Say?

Hmm... Am lack of updates lately. When I didn't have a blog I had a lot to say but once I started a blog, I feel like there isn't anything much to say.

This week is my 3rd week of clinical. Haven't done anything. I'm scratching my head trying to find anyone who has lost all their teeth and wants to wear full dentures. Susah gile kot nak cari! I hope I can start filling people's tooth by next week. Otherwise it'll be my 4th week without work. When am I ever gonna learn?

So tomorrow will be my 24th birthday. My hari tua! Kinda excited to celebrate it cos it's been a very longggg time since I've been to a party. Not planning to have a party actually but just celebrating it with a bunch of close friends. Small and simple. Tomorrow will be the day I add another year to my age and but also be one year after Rayyan Hakimi's death. My family back home will be having tahlil but I'm kinda sad I won't be able to attend it. I wasn't home last year cos I was sitting for my final exams. Whatever it is, Allah SWT loves him more. Our prayers will always be with Rayyan.

Free Food Galore

When you're a student in a foreign country, any event with free food is what you look most forward to. Haha! But I'm dead serious. Any event that involves free food will be the talk of town. Everyone will be texting each other asking whether they are going or not. Hehe. But at the same time, these events are the time when we'll see everyone get together. It doesn't hurt either if the event is held at a hotel (that we know we can't afford).

Anyway, yesterday was free food galore. The first was Aminda & Aisya's housewarming party. They cooked nasi tomato, bihun and kuah dal. Yum yummmm... The selection of cakes was a plus as well. So thanks dearies for feeding us lunch! *wink*

The next event was Agong's Birthday celebration at Sheraton Mustika Hotel. Free food yet again. *wink2* The selection of food was okay. It wasn't the best food I've ever tasted but at least we got a chance to eat at a hotel we know we can't afford. Hehe. Besides free food, the best part about big gatherings are the cam-whore sessions. Unfortunatey, my battery was running low (cos I didn't charge it) so we didn't take as much pictures as we would like to.

Jumping for joy

Yes, thats me jumping with high heels

Tomorrow will be another day at 'work'. I haven't worked on my first patient yet but I hope it would be soon! So, whoever needs a tooth filling, crowing, full denture, etc... Please let me know. But you have to be in Yogya of course!

Hip-hip Hooray!

Woot woot! I finally did it! I finally started my own blog. *smiles*

The last time I wrote a blog was in 2003. That was 6 years ago!! Over the last few months I've been thinking of writing a blog again. I know I said I wouldn't cos my life is not interesting for other people to read or I'm just plain lazy. But after months and months of thinking to myself, I decided to type it all on virtual paper. Who cares if people think I'm interesting or not. At least its kind of a form of expression and releasing stress.

I did tell some friends that I wanted to write a blog and they encouraged me to do so. Hooray to you guys! But the person that made me have my 'ting!' moment was my brother. I was chatting with my brother a few weeks ago and he said he wanted to start a blog (about finance I might add. But he decided to write a personal blog first. Hehe). After he said that I started laughing and said I was thinking of the same thing. I didn't think brothers and sisters would kind of think a like. Haha. So, 'Whoa-la!'... Here I am with my new blog. Hooray to my adik as well!

My bro & I
Btw, writing a blog is also a way for me to start writing in English again. After 5 years (and counting) of studying in a country where English is not even a second language, my English is just horrible. Let me repeat, horrible! H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E! It's like my English has gone down the drain. I'm in desperate need to upgrade my vocab.

I must warn you I'm not a good writer. So be prepared to fall asleep on my amateur attempt to make my life seem interesting. *wink*
