Foodie Friday: Fried Ice Cream

Friday, Friday... Gotta get down on Friday...

How I wish I could enjoy my weekend. But I got some last minute stuff I need to do by next Friday. Alhamdulillah got a few things settled today. =)

I haven't posted anything I made on Foodie Friday for quite some time now. The last Foodie Friday post was about food in Semarang. Two weeks ago my friend requested I made fried ice cream cos she was curious what it taste like. I'm no expert but I do have a simple way of making Fried Ice Cream.

Firstly, you'll need a tub of ice cream. Choose any flavour you like but I reckon vanilla might be the best choice. My friend chose vanilla chocolate chip ice cream.
Btw, use good quality ice cream.
Line baking tray with waxed paper/baking paper. Prepare round scoops of ice cream and place on baking tray. Freeze ice cream balls until firm or about an hour. I think it's best to freeze overnight.
I mixed bread crumbs & cinnamon in a bowl and rolled the firm ice cream balls and place it in a freezer for about an hour.
After an hour, I beat the eggs in another bowl and rolled the ice cream balls in the egg mixture.
After I rolled the ice cream balls in the egg mixture, I rolled it again in the bowl of breadcrumbs & cinnamon until it is fully covered. I place it again on the baking tray and freeze it for a few hours.
Repeat the same steps to make a thicker crust. Roll in egg mixture then into the bowl of  bread crumbs & cinnamon. Freeze again until firm and hard. I actually freezed it overnight.
Fry the ice cram balls for about 15-20 seconds, until golden. Remove from oil and place on paper towel. Serve immediately.

There are many ways to make fried cream. Some recipes use corn flakes instead of bread crumbs. I've tried both but I think its easier to use bread crumbs. I like to add cinnamon to the bread crumbs. Delicious. Some recipes even added to sugar to the crust mixture.

As for how you would like to serve it, it's up to you. You can use strawberries, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, honey, etc. It's all up to you. Enjoy!

I'll Be Missing You

Received sad new this morning. A good friend of mine from high school passed away in a car accident this morning. I'm still trying to process this. When my friend told me I wished he was kidding and when I called him I was speechless.

I've known my friend who passed away since form 2/3. She was a new student at the time. During form 3 she would come to my house for tuition every alternate days. We may not be super extremely close but we'd hang out when I come back to Malaysia. Every year without fail she'll come to my open house during Raya. She's the type of person you would never forget. I'll definitely miss her.

Al-Fatihah.

Tune on Tuesday: Kid Cudi

Almost had an emotional breakdown today. Thankfully I manage to calm myself. Alhamdulillah. No more tears. I've got oral exam for Orthodontic tomorrow. I'm not readyyyy. Just thought I'd take a break. Can't afford to go to bed tonight. I've not been listening to any significant songs since as of late but I thought I'd post a song by Kid Cudi titled 'Pursuit of Happiness' taken from his debut album back in 2009. The title of the song has been my goal for quite some time now.

Belated Foodie Friday: Tofu Tofu Tofu

I was suppose to post this yesterday but I was out the whole day and by the time I came back I was too tired to do anything and went straight to bed. From my previous post, I have said I will post about the food I had in Semarang. Am splitting this post as well so click on the link below to keep reading it. The reason I named this post Tahu Tahu Tahu is because we had tofu non-stop through out our whole trip to Semarang. Hehe.

Our first stop was Oom Shin's Tahu Serasi. They sold fresh soya bean milk. Fresh and yummilicious! Definitely the best soya bean I've ever had in Indonesia. Apart from selling soya bean, they also sold tofu, either cooked or uncooked. Nothing special, just your typical fried tofu eaten with raw chili.

Travel Thursday: Semarang

As you know from my previous post I went to Semarang a month ago for my friend's wedding. We didn't get to sightsee that much but we did stop here and there. At the same time I also celebrated my Birthday while I was there. We went in 2 cars: Me, Wafa, Like, Arie & Sisca in one car, Wenang, Lisa, Lya, Nanda, Revi and Irma in another car. I decided to divide my post about Semarang into two. The first is about the places we visited and the second about our culinary adventure. Today's post will be about the places we went to. Since this post is quite long because of the amount of pictures, I'll have to split it. Click on the link below to continue seeing photos of Semarang.

Our first stop was Oom Shin. Its actually a place that sells fresh soya bean milk as well as tofu/ bean curd. You can see how the tofu is made. Their fresh soya bean is definitely a thumbs up!

Save the Best for Last

My mum e-mailed me last night telling me she remembered a song I sang while on holiday to the US when I was 10. We were on the way to Yosemite Park, it was snowing and I sang "Sometimes it snows in June.... You save the best for last". But she doesn't know who originally sang the song.

Since it was 16 years ago, I myself don't remember me singing that song nor do I remember who sang it. The obvious thing to do is Google it! And I found the song! Save the Best for Last by Vanessa Williams. Hehe. I read the lyrics and thought "Did I even know what the lyrics meant back then? Did I ever think I would go through that later on in life?". Here I am 16 years later, finally understanding what the song meant and what it feels like to go through it. But the only difference is she got the best for last. Mine stopped at standing face to face. ;P

Save The Best For Last - Vanessa Williams

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon
I see the passion in your eyes
Sometimes it's all a big surprise
'Cause there was a time when all I did was wish
You'd tell me this was love
It's not the way I hoped or how I planned
But somehow it's enough

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

All of the nights you came to me
When some silly girl had set you free
You wondered how you'd make it through
I wondered what was wrong with you

'Cause how could you give your love to someone else
And share your dreams with me
Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

You went and saved the best for last

A Guy and A Girl

Found this at Wafa's blog and thought I had to post it =)
PS: I won't be blogging for awhile. I'll try to do so during the weekend. So little so much to do. I barely have time for myself and the worst part is I find myself losing my appetite yet again. I eat but mostly biscuits or chocolates cos I'll feel sick looking at other food. This has been happening for the last 2 months. Badddddd!

Tune on Tuesday: One Night Only

Things have not been easy as of late. Nobody said life was easy. But I know I will make it through. Allah SWT is Almighty. Allah SWT won't test a person beyond the person's capabilities. I know He is making me stronger. Doa, selawat, sabar, redha and bersyukur. Five things to always remember.

Today is Tuesday and I would like to introduce a band that reminded me of how awesome Brit bands are. One Night Only!

If you think the song Can you Feel It sounds familiar, it's actually this year's Coca Cola theme!
