Tune on Tuesday: Kid Cudi

Almost had an emotional breakdown today. Thankfully I manage to calm myself. Alhamdulillah. No more tears. I've got oral exam for Orthodontic tomorrow. I'm not readyyyy. Just thought I'd take a break. Can't afford to go to bed tonight. I've not been listening to any significant songs since as of late but I thought I'd post a song by Kid Cudi titled 'Pursuit of Happiness' taken from his debut album back in 2009. The title of the song has been my goal for quite some time now.

Save the Best for Last

My mum e-mailed me last night telling me she remembered a song I sang while on holiday to the US when I was 10. We were on the way to Yosemite Park, it was snowing and I sang "Sometimes it snows in June.... You save the best for last". But she doesn't know who originally sang the song.

Since it was 16 years ago, I myself don't remember me singing that song nor do I remember who sang it. The obvious thing to do is Google it! And I found the song! Save the Best for Last by Vanessa Williams. Hehe. I read the lyrics and thought "Did I even know what the lyrics meant back then? Did I ever think I would go through that later on in life?". Here I am 16 years later, finally understanding what the song meant and what it feels like to go through it. But the only difference is she got the best for last. Mine stopped at standing face to face. ;P

Save The Best For Last - Vanessa Williams

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon
I see the passion in your eyes
Sometimes it's all a big surprise
'Cause there was a time when all I did was wish
You'd tell me this was love
It's not the way I hoped or how I planned
But somehow it's enough

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

All of the nights you came to me
When some silly girl had set you free
You wondered how you'd make it through
I wondered what was wrong with you

'Cause how could you give your love to someone else
And share your dreams with me
Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

And now we're standing face to face
Isn't this world a crazy place
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

Sometimes the very thing you're looking for
Is the one thing you can't see

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon
Just when I thought our chance had passed
You go and save the best for last

You went and saved the best for last

Tune on Tuesday: One Night Only

Things have not been easy as of late. Nobody said life was easy. But I know I will make it through. Allah SWT is Almighty. Allah SWT won't test a person beyond the person's capabilities. I know He is making me stronger. Doa, selawat, sabar, redha and bersyukur. Five things to always remember.

Today is Tuesday and I would like to introduce a band that reminded me of how awesome Brit bands are. One Night Only!

If you think the song Can you Feel It sounds familiar, it's actually this year's Coca Cola theme!

Tune on Tuesday: Bondan Prakoso

It's been 2 weeks since I last blogged. A lot has happened in the last 2 weeks. I wouldn't say its been the best but it has been kinda life-changing. It was hard and it'll continue being hard for awhile but life goes on and I have accepted it eventhough it still stings inside. Banyakkan doa and berzikir, InsyaAllah everything will be fine. Amin.

Note to self: Always say want you want to say even if the outcome is not the best. Its better than keeping it all inside and its to late to say it.

Tune on Tuesday: 60's Music

Wow! Is it Tuesday already? I completely forgot that today is Tuesday. Mainly because my mind is still thinking about my exam this morning. Alhamdulillah one exam is over. I think I have about 4 more to go in the next 3 months. InsyaAllah if ada rezeki everything will be ok. Berdebar gak sebenarnye thinking about August but when there's a will, there's a way. Amin.

Let's go back to the sixties and enjoy the awesome sounds of bands back then. I lurveeeee bands from the sixties. The Kinks, The Beatles, The Troggs, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Jackson Five, The Beach Boys... The list goes on and on. Other notable artists from the sixties are Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, James Brown and Stevie Wonder. Up until now artists from the sixties has made an amazing impact in the music industry. Hooray for the sixties! =D

Tune on Tuesday: Coachella 2011

Coachella was held last weekend. I obviously missed it as I'm living in a continent that barely gets to watch the bands that I really wanna watch. This year Coachella is headlined by Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, The Strokes & Kanye West. They were plenty of other awesome acts performing such as Neon Trees, Jack's Mannequin, Jimmy Eat World, Cold War Kids, Crystal Castles, Interpol, Sleigh Bells, Chemical Brothers, etc. Awesome right?

Tune on Tuesday: Grizzly Bear

For some weird reason, Grizzly Bear's Two Weeks kinda reminds me of the feeling of falling in love. The video is kinda odd but the song is perfect. =)

Tune on Tuesday: The Maccabees

Whoaaaa... I've been on hiatus for 2 weeks. I was back in Malaysia for 10 days. I don't normally go online when I'm back in Malaysia. Maybe cos I'm only home at night and by that time I'll be too tired to do anything but sleep. Anyhoo, had an awesome time back home. Will blog about something me & my girls did later.

Ever wonder where I got the name of my blog? It's actually from a song from The Maccabees "Toothpaste Kisses". Love this song. Its a really cute love song.

Tune on Tuesday: Buddhistson

Un-Coincidentally the band I decided to feature today is a Japanese band. It had nothing to do with the latest devastating event that hit Japan. I was listening to songs on my playlist and this song played. I instantly thought I'd feature Buddhistson. Buddhistson is so far the only Japanese band I listen to. A friend recommended I should listen to their songs about 2 years ago and I was hooked. "Wisely & Slow" is a song from their fourth album "Slowdance" released back in 2009. Love it!

Tune on Tuesday: Foo Fighters

Today's today Tune on Tuesday features a band that I love since the first time I listened to their song back in primary school (No kidding. Thanks to my older cousins of course). FOO FIGHTERS! I love love love Foo Fighters! I absolutely idolized Dave Grohl as a musician. His drumming skills while he was in Nirvana was awesome and then forming his own was even more awesome. I'm soooo happy their back with their new single "Rope". The lyrics are very meaningful.

Walking after you is my fave Foo Fighters song of all time. Couldn't embed a music video version of the song so I put the live version instead. It's as amazing as the normal version. Enjoy =)

Lucas/Lukas

Couldn't wait till Tuesday to post this.
This is awesome. Nuff' said.

MADE FOR YOU
Lucas/Lukas

I'll probably be there waiting for your hope
I'll probably be there waiting for your hope
I'll probably be dead if I ain't got your word
I'll probably be there waiting for your hope
I'll probably be dead if I ain't got your word

Got your word

This time you're not alone
Get rid of old ideals
Do something on your own
Don't care about the things you are listening to

Read books not facebooks
The world's spinning up side down
Why don't you all join is
Is this my carousel of hope?

Got your word

Trust that I will always be there waiting for your love
Trust in the beauty inside, trust the name Explode
Trust the colors of rainbows, even if it's dark
Trust in the photos you did and the ones outside
Trust in people, religions and all their hopes
Trust in the meaning of life this can only be love
Trust the friends that we share, and the ones that we don't
Trust in me, trust in you
Over and over and over

Tune on Tuesday: PS22 Chorus

Take a deep breath and breatheeee....
Inhale.... exhale....
Time to forget the series of misfortunate events that happened today. Ignore the tears that I shed (nothing new to the life of a dental student in Gadjah Mada University). Hoping for a better day tomorrow.
Breatheeee.....
Let's listen to PS22 Chorus' rendition of my fave Phoenix song "Lisztomania".
Breatheeee.....

Tune on Tuesday: Katy Perry

I am glad to say I'm feeling better than yesterday. But the unthinkable happened yesterday. I fell down a flight of stairs and slid down. Hehe. So I am no longer nursing a cold or cough but am currently nursing a swollen & bruised left leg and wrist. The funny part is I was wearing a skirt and I hope I didn't flash anyone. Muahaha!

I am the type of person who likes to flip through old magazines when I'm bored. I'll even buy outdated issues of magazines for RM5 each at Sungei Wang. Anyway, I was reading the April 2009 issue of Marie Claire UK and an article caught my eye. It says that singing can increase happiness levels and help you live longer. According to Professor Graham Welch, "Singing is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body. It also stimulates the endocrine system, which is linked to well-being". Well, that's definitely something to sing about!

Here's a song that will make you wanna sing and dance, Katy Perry's Firework!

Looking forward to our next karaoke session!

Tune on Tuesday: Neon Trees

I know I promised to post some pictures soon but been out and about and haven't found the time to choose or edit pictures. Today's post will be about a band that helped me through a sort of sad phase late last year. I love Neon Trees! They're just awesome. Animal was my first fave song and the lyrics was pretty much how I felt late last year. 1983 pretty much helped me feel happy again when I felt sad or lonely. Enjoy the videos & I hope you like them as much as I do!
